World's cleanest car

With the increasing concern of global warming and the prices of gas (petrol) we are looking for other renewable sources of energy. Fuel combustion produces carbon dioxide which is a green house gas. More vehicles on the road means more carbon dioxide which in turn means more risk to global warming. What if we have a car which runs without gas or any other combustible fuel!
MDI is a company which has created an engine which works on compressed air. Well this is similar to the small rockets we used to create when we were kids. Blow air into the balloon and then let it loose. What happens? The air rushed out with a force which pushed the balloon forward. This is the principal which this car follows, except we don't have to fill up the air in the car.
Look at this link for more details, www.theaircar.com
Well the concept is interesting but this is even more interesting. When the compressed air is let loose it is cooler, and we can use this cool air to cool the car during summer. There are certain drawbacks here. The maximum speed this car runs is about 70 mph, so our F1 racers won't be able to drive this car. Also these cars need to be smaller in size due to capacity of the engine, so big SUV owners won't be interested in this car either.
But here is the main part, after fully charged, meaning after having tank full of compressed air, the car runs for 125 miles. It takes about 1.5 hours and costs about $2.5 to fill the tank with compressed air.
TATA from India is trying to bring this car in India by 2009. This car is being launched in Summer 2008 in France and other European countries. Just think about the future of this engine and the future of planet earth with this automobile running on similar engines.

Y shouldn't I use cellphone in hospital

Last time I went to a hospital (couple of years back) I was told to switch off my cell phone in some areas. At that time I thought that it was because that it would disturb the patients. Today after almost two years I came to know the correct reason behind this. You know what, I was stupid enough not to relate it with not using cellphones in the airplanes.
The thing is, the electromagnetic interference cause the electric equipments in the hospital to behave bizarrely. As one of the example on CNN was that a mechanical breathing(ventilator) machine went on/off on its own when a cell phone was brought near it. Now just imagine yourself hooked to that ventilator machine and breathing through it, and your sweet heart talking on a cell phone with her friend or somebody which may cause the ventilator to turn on/off, guess what your sweetheart would no more be sweet any more as you heart is in trouble now.
There are many other examples derived from tests conducted on this matter , I wrote the above stuff after reading an article on CNN (please refer to the "no cell phone zone " section) . All credit goes to the author of the article.
So please be considerate and obey the signs, as it can be injurious to somebody's health.

How does a Microwave work?

Well this might sound very basic but I just came to know how does a microwave works. I know that there were microwave involved but didn't knew it completely. But here is what I came to know. I got it from this link .

Microwaves are a form of electromagnetic energy , like light wave or radio wave and occupy a part of the electromagnetic spectrum. Microwaves cause food molecules to vibrate rapidly, creating friction that produces heat which then cooks the food. In other words, food cooked in a microwave simply absorbs microwave and turns their energy into thermal energy, which cooks the food. Microwaves are colorless, odorless, tasteless, and these are not radioactive. Microwave oven is one of the most energy efficient appliances money can buy today. For example, it takes 18 times the electricity to bake a potato in a regular oven than in a microwave. Microwaves cook from the outside towards the center of the food. Microwave ovens are faster for most cooking jobs because the energy heats the food and not the oven or the containers. They don't also heat up the kitchen, especially in the summer time like the other cooking appliances. All credit goes to the author of the article here

JOEY by Mozilla

Mozilla has a project for sharing info to your mobile device. Project JOEY brings the Web content you need most to your mobile phone by allowing you to easily send it to your device. Here is a sneak peak at how to get started using Joey today.
The concept is very similar to email and other internet storage facilities like (yahoo briefcase). You login into your account and add the information you want (which is equivalent to sending emails). Then in your mobile phone you login into your account (the same account) and you can access that information. It differs from email, as in email we send information to someone else, while here we store that information somewhere on the server and then can access it by accessing your account from the internet. So theoretically we are sending the information to ourself. I think they can easily extend a feature to sending information other users as well.
It would be interesting to see how many people use this new facility by Mozilla, but surely Mozilla would get more attention.

HYPERMILING

Today, in newspaper I came across an interesting article about this guy Wayne Gerdes and his Hypermiling theory. In the theory he suggest/explains different ways to get better mileage than the EPA estimate for your car. For detailed explanation you can visit www.cleanmpg.com . He has some interesting ways by which we can increase the mileage of our car, and its not limited to hybrid cars. One of his accomplishments that were described in the paper were getting 57MPG in Honda Accord and 127MPG in Toyota prius. Not all the ways he describes on the website are totally safe but they are worth reading as they explain the forces which take away the MPG from our while we drive in our AC car totally oblivious of.

Trip to India

I just came back from a short trip to India for about 11days. As would have come to your mind that 11 days is nothing when u are going to India, well I also felt same but had no other options. It was a fun trip all in all.
First couple of days it was very hot and humid, and you feel more when you go from here. But was fun to get wet in the rain after 4 years. Its totally a different feeling. The smell of wet soil and the speed of rain, it freshened my memories and surely created new ones. As I went to meet my fiance, was much of a social trip. Went to meet her family and she came to visit my family. Also I got rid of one of the wisdom tooth which started decaying, so last week was just bearing that pain.
The only regret I have was I could not eat out as first couple of day went in getting my body adjusted and then I got my tooth surgery done. But next time would surly make up in that division.

Movie Review- Live Free Or Die Hard

Yes yes yes, another classic Bruce Willis Die Hard movie. It was awesome and met to my expectations. Fully loaded with fight sequences. "Presence of mind" was major part in the fights as he single handedly takes care of all the bad guys. The only thing I liked less about it that technology (computer stuff) was shown to the extent that after that one would feel "comon this is too much". But then there could also be an argument about the fight stunts in the movie. All in all nice entertainment specially with only one "Kissing" scene in the movie. Nice job. In one line, I liked the movie and the Chinese Chick in the movie and can watch them again (both the moive and the chick) ;) .

Movie Review- Transformers

Last weekend me and my friends watched the movie - Transformers. I liked it, full of action. The movie is about the fight between aliens but the bad part for people on EARTH was that, it was on our home ground. But there was not story in the movie- may be I was expecting too much from the movie. I liked the animation. The Transformers were pretty cool and the way they changed their form was awesome. Also they were very powerful. If they were fighting against us, then the movie would have been finished in 30 mins ;) (if the film producer was not biased).
I felt that a couple of sequences were a bit too long. Also there was some comedy in the movie which was unexpected for me and at some point I felt that it was taking away the seriousness of the situation.
All in all it was a nice movie if you like action movies.
NOTE: Please reach early so that you don't have to sit in the front rows, I was unlucky and sat in the 3rd row and it was painful. (the Transformers were too big)

मेरी हफ्ता चर्या - My last week

Sydney Sheldon-The stars shine down (400 pages)

Last week I completed another novel by Sydney Sheldon. Was similar to his other novels, fiction thriller. I wonder how knowledgable these writers are about day to day stuff and also about the geographic locations and cities they include in their novel. I mean at one point they take you to Paris and at other point you are in Vienna. All the places, streets they mention do exist on reality.
One thing I liked about this specific novel is that the author also took time and efforts to include the current events which were happening in reality, not in his fiction world, like who got elected as president of America or any major events which occurred around the world during that time.
Now am looking forward to start another novel by Robert Ludlum and Philip Shelby- The Casandra Compact (one of this covert one novels)

Bad time moves on

This past week (last week of june) was kind of slow. I was bit low in confidence at work as was struggling to find a solution to one problem, and also my car crash added to it. The car accident happened on Monday. But as the week moved on things started getting better. By Wednesday evening I had solution to my problem at work and also we through with car damage, mentally. But just to add something more to the week, a bolt drove into the driver side tire of my car. So on Friday was busy getting the tire patched. Luckily was done on Friday itself. So that was the story of last week, hopefully the following weeks would be better.

I was yielding at an intersection and the guy coming behind me thought that I was still moving and the rest you can figure out. The end result was that my car's rear bumper got damaged, am trying to catch the other guys insurance company to fix it. The good part was that nobody got hurt except my car. Why Blogging

Well have seen many people blogging, so thought to start one as well...
